Information Collection and Use
Collection and Use of Personal Information
Here are some examples of the types of personal information 10X may collect and how we may use it. When you register an account on 10X, create a community, register for an event sponsored by 10X or participate in an online survey, we may collect a variety of information, including your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, contact preferences, and credit card information.
The personal information we collect allows us to keep you posted on 10X's latest announcements, updates, and events. It also helps us to create, develop, deliver, and improve our products, Content and Services. If you do not want to be on one of our optional mailing lists, you can opt out anytime. From time to time, we may use your personal information to send important notices, such as communications about purchases and changes to our terms, conditions, and policies. Because this information is important to your interaction with 10X, you may not opt out of receiving these communications. We may also use personal information for internal purposes such as auditing, data analysis, and research to improve 10X's products, Content, Services, and customer communications. If you enter into a sweepstake, contest, or similar promotion we may use the information you provide to administer those programs.
Collection and Use of Non-Personal Information
We also collect non-personal information - data in a form that does not permit direct association with any specific individual. We may collect, use, transfer, and disclose non-personal information for any purpose.
If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.
Basic Account Information
When you create or reconfigure a 10X account, you provide some personal information, such as your name or the name of your business or organization (your "name"), username, password, country, and email address. Some of this information, for example, your name, username, and country, is listed publicly on our Services, including on your profile page and in search results. Some Services, such as guest user access (limited access given to users of 10X's Services who have not logged in), do not require registration.
You may use your contact information, such as your email address or phone number, to customize your account or enable Services. If you provide 10X with your phone number, you agree to receive text messages to that number from 10X. We may use your contact information to send you information about our Services, to market to you, to help prevent spam, fraud, or abuse, to help others find your account, including through third-party services and client applications, and to help verify your identity and restore your account.
You may provide us with profile information to make public on the 10X Services, such as a short bio section, your location, your website, or a picture. If you email us, we may keep your message, email address and contact information to respond to your request. If you connect your 10X account to your account on another service in order to cross-post between 10X and that service, the other service may send us your registration or profile information on that service and other information that you authorize. Providing the additional information described in this section is entirely optional.
Questions, Answers, Posts, Photos, Comments and other Public Information
Our Services are primarily designed to help you share information with the world. Most of the information you provide us through the 10X Services is information you are asking us to make public. This includes not only the Content you post, such as a Question, Answer, Post, Photo, or Comment and the associated metadata, such as when you submitted the post, but also your upvotes, downvotes, and and many other bits of information that result from your use of the Services. We may use this information to make inferences, like what topics you may be interested in, and to customize the content we show you, including ads. When publically posted Content is flagged admins may review the Content and take action, such as by removing the Content from the Services. The 10X Services broadly and instantly disseminate your public information to a wide range of users, customers, and services. For instance, your public user profile information and Questions, Answers, Posts, and Photos may be searchable by search engines. When you share information or content like Photos, comments, and links via the Services, you should think carefully about what you are making public.
Information Others Share About You
We receive information about you from your friends and others who use the Services, such as when they post a photo of you, or tag you in a Question, Answer, Post, Photo or Comment. Others can choose to make information about you public when sharing on the Services, such as when tagging you in a Post. If you feel that any Content posted on the Services is harmful, hurtful, or abusive to you or others, please flag that Content for review.
10X may receive information about your location. For example, you may tell us your location when you enable your computer or mobile device to send us location information. We may also determine location by using other data from your device, such as precise location information from GPS, information about wireless networks or cell towers near your mobile device, or your IP address. We may use and store information about your location to improve and customize the Services, and to provide features of our Services.
10X may keep track of how you interact with links across our Services, including our email notifications and client applications, by redirecting clicks or through other means. We do this to help improve our Services, to provide more relevant content and advertising, and to be able to share aggregate click statistics such as how many times a particular link was clicked on.
When you use our Services, we may receive information ("Log Data") such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, your mobile carrier, device information (including device and application IDs), search terms, and cookie information. We receive Log Data when you interact with our Services, for example, when you visit our websites, sign into our Services, interact with our email notifications, or use your account to authenticate to a third-party website or application. 10X uses Log Data to provide, understand, and improve our Services, to make inferences, like what topics you may be interested in, and to customize the content we show you, including ads.
10X's Services may contain links to third-party websites, products, and services. Our products and services may also use, offer, or display products or services from third parties - for example, a third-party may offer an application that integrates with 10X. Information collected by third parties, which may include such things as location data or contact details in an application that integrates with 10X, is subject to their own terms and policies.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
We may share or disclose your information at your direction, such as when you authorize a third-party web client or application to access your account.
Law and Harm
Non-Private or Non-Personal Information
We may share or disclose your non-private, aggregated or otherwise non-personal information, such as your public user profile information, the number of users who clicked on a particular link (even if only one did), or reports to advertisers about unique users who saw or clicked on their ads, after we have removed any private personal information (such as your name or contact information).
Accessing and Modifying Your Personal Information
If you are a registered user of our Services, we provide you with tools to access or modify the personal information you provided to us and associated with your account. To deactivate or delete your account, please email us at [email protected]
You should only delete your account if you are sure you never want to reactivate it. Some of the things you do on 10X are not stored in your account, like answering a Question. That information remains after you delete your account.
Our Policy Towards Children
Our Services are not directed to persons under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove such information and terminate the child's account.
